Mobile App Design

Our mission was to reposition Florida Power & Light as a leader in powering electric vehicles. As the Design Lead of a team of visual and UX designers, we reimagined their mobile app experience throughout the customer journey. With the new FPL Evolution app, utility customers can now easily charge their vehicles at home, while on-the-go drivers are empowered to locate stations and charge without friction.

Role: Design Lead

Dashboard Mode: At Home

If the customer is at home and owns an FPL charger, the dashboard showcases charging data. Below, users can adjust peak mode and charger amperage settings.
Dashboard - View Switcher

To change the dashboard view, customers can switch between profiles of any vehicle or home charger linked within their master account.
Dashboard Mode: On the Go

When the customer is in on-the-go mode, the dashboard populates stats, a map with the customer’s location, nearby/favorite chargers and amenities, and featured charging locations.
Tap to Start Charging

Once the customer is at a station, the charging tray opens. Default connector and payment method are pre-selected, followed by a clear tap to charge button.
Active Charging Session

Once charging, details of the active charge appear with subtle motion, allowing customers to view important information at a glance.
Condensed Charging Tray

The charging tray collapses into a condensed view to remain visible if the customer navigates away from the charging details.
Mapping Experience

Upon tapping the map from the dashboard or the stations item in the bottom nav, customers can view a full-screen map with options to search and filter.
Station Quick View

Tapping a station reveals high-level information at a glance, with options to view more details or get directions to the station.
Station Details

The window shade provides station information, the best time to charge, and recent charging data. Available chargers and nearby amenities are also available.
